Wonderful walk in nature reserve Ropotamo

Bulgaria’s nature reserve Ropotamo is famous with its beautiful water lilies that charm every viistor. The nature reserve is situated at the lowest stream of Ropotamo River. The reserve lies only 12km away from Sozopol beach resort. It was established in 1992. When Ropotamo River infused into Black Sea, a firth with sea water formed. There are swamp places with ash-trees and water lilies.

A walk on the Ropotamo River is a real attraction if you enjoy your summer holiday in Sozopol, Primorsko or Kiten. The reserve is so picturesque and beautiful, but you will be surprised how the mother Nature has created every detail here. Nature reserve Ropotamo is the shelter for many rare and endangered animal species. The reserve is a combination of natural landmarks, rocks, sandy dunes and beautiful areas. It comprises of the swamp Arkutino (there you will find the white water lilies), the island St.Toma (it is also known as the Snake island due to the water snakes that inhabit it), the impressive rock formations – the Lion’s head, sea caves and fiords.
